Life Membership is arguably the highest individual honour that can be earned at the Collingwood Football Club. It is conferred only on those who have given the Club extraordinary service on and/or off the field.
What are the criteria for Life Membership?
The circumstances in which Life Memberships may be offered are governed by criteria outlined in the Club’s constitution. The relevant clauses read:
The Directors may determine that a person is eligible for, and is to be granted membership as, a Life Member (LM) of the Club.
A person eligible for membership as a Life Member must be:
(i) a person who has rendered service for a period of not less than ten years as a player on the senior list of the Club;
(ii) a person who has rendered service for a period of not less than ten years as an office bearer* of the Club:
(iii) a person who has rendered service for a period of not less than ten years as either or both as a player on the senior list or as an office bearer of the Club;
(iv) a player of a senior team of the Club who has been awarded the relevant league's best and fairest award (such as the Charles Brownlow medal by the Australian Football League);
(v) a player of a senior team of the Club who has played in a Premiership of the Club; or
(vi) a person who has rendered outstanding service to the Club in some other capacity.
*office bearer is a voluntary position i.e. President, Board Member
Nominations for Life Membership
Life Memberships are first considered by the Club’s Honours & Awards Committee, then sent to the Board for approval.
Those players/officials who become eligible under the years-of-service provisions will be considered automatically by the Committee.

Who can nominate another person for Life Membership?
To nominate someone for Life Membership you must either be a Life Member yourself or have a Life Member second your nomination.
